  LOL - the large number of visitors they anticipate as a result of the invitation campaign in Oct. I'm sure whoever wrote that must have had a nice belly laugh. When have those invitation campaigns ever worked? How many people attend the RC as a result of the public invitation? hahah. delusional

  Status update and hello.

  i haven't posted here in a few months and to be honest i haven't been lurking either.

  i hope everyone is doing well.😊 i wanted to take a minute to let you know how things have been the last few months.. recently the brothers decided to finally consider my letter of resignation.

  they met with me alone and i let them know why i have become inactive as a publisher and why i no longer wish to serve as an elder in the congregation.

  So sorry for you and your wife's losses. It's always struck me as crazy that you have to get permission to resign a volunteer position but such is life inside the WTS.

  I think going to grief counseling is a wise move. Please keep us updated.

  To those who attended, attendance up or down at your memorial?

  Typically they don't applaud or at least that's my experience.

  Ours was around the same from last year. Around 150 or so. Average attendance is around 110 so really not much of a bump.

  ok so a car pulls up to the house and 3 eldurrs from my dads congo come up.

  they come in and have thee nerve to ask me to step out so they can speak to pops!!!!

  this is the good part.....pops says...and i quote " whatever needs to be said..can be said in front of my son".

  Has anyone else collected their money back from local Kingdom Halls for money loaned for construction?

  just a reminder if you haven't, to get it back before they sell any more halls.even if you're currently da/df you can still collect any monies owed you by the kingdom hall as far as loans go.we were able to get back $1000 that my mom had loaned the local hall for a loan to build new one.it was documented by the paper that had been given each publisher back then on how much they could/would be willing to give as an outright donation or a loan.

  the loan was to be paid back whenever the publisher requested it.

  (not a specific date)i can't help but feel that a lot of the old timers that loaned monies to the society and/or k-halls have been forgot about by them or their families.

  What Is The Watchtower's Biggest Problem?

  certain doctrines are problematic.

  the men who run the organizaion have issues.

  Member apathy is their single biggest problem. People may still come to meetings, but less regular and really not enthusiastic. Apathy causes donations to dip. The crazy thing is that instead of trying to make changes and figure out what is causing the apathy, they do more of the same (guilt).

  i stopped attending meetings all together in january 2015. before that my attendance was irregular at best.

  my husband followed suit a few months ago after months of research, agony, and indecision on his part.

  from the very beginning i laid low and did not share with anyone what i found out about the witnesses because i did not want to be df'd.

  I think you did the right thing. You are under no obligation to discuss anything with them. I likely wouldn't share your feelings with anybody else that could corroborate your mom's story though. It is sad that a mother would turn her own daughter in but likely she thinks she's "helping" you.

  for the “living as christians” section of the workbook, “are you reaching out?” talk (15 min), the bethelite gave this talk at the meeting.

  he totally departed from the subject matter which is the watchtower of september 15, 2014, pages 3-6. he was so far off the reservation, it wasn't funny.

  here are a few highlights of what was said: 1) if any brother asked why they haven’t been appointed, and wants to know if there is a problem or condition that exists, that brother is too “presumptuous” and therefore, can’t be used.

  Wow - you never know what straw finally breaks the camel's back. However, what speaker said is actually the truth. Some, if not many, BOEs get really annoyed if a "brother" asks what's holding them back. And, it really is all about what the BOE thinks/feels. I've seen people torpedoed for unbelievably silly things while others promoted with more serious deficiencies.

  a motion for summary judgement is denied in a case against the laurel congregation of jehovah's witnesses and some individuals over child abuse reporting issues.a lawyer for the congregation maintained that elders were exempted from reporting requirements under a state law because of clergy privilege and confidentiality.the case resulted from allegations that elders did not report an unlawful sexual relationship between a woman and a 14-year-old boy, both of whom were members of the jehovah's witnesses congregation.. download the court opinion here.
